Reviewer: Emily S Your only aunt is getting married in ten weeks and you are in the wedding. The only problem - 45 pounds. You must lose 45 pounds within that time. KA Barson takes you through the age-old problem of weight loss in the realistic fiction book, 45 Pounds. You will be entertained with Ann's struggles. You can connect to this book because there is always something we struggle with. But, I found myself connecting to the story because I had a struggle with something, and I set goals for myself and got help. I love Ann's midnset and I hope I can be ambitious like her. This book is great for anyone who loves realistic fiction. The author helps you feel the pain Ann is feeling. Her weight issues, her struggle with her over-obsessive mom, and her challenge of picking her friends because of her size are many issues that girls today face. We all have problems - but the struggle is the same.

Reviewer: Anna I The Raft is a very adventurous novel that would probably be found in the realistic fiction section of your local library. A friend told me this book was one of her favorites, and it will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat! This book is about never giving up. The main character, Robie, shows great determination and bravery as she tries to get back to her island home after her plane crashes. She must now fight for her life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure - but there is a little something for everyone in this book! Author: Frank Cottrell Boyce
Reviewer: Mateo A This realistic fiction novel is a story about a boy named Liam and his adventures in space. He is an oversize, very tall 12 year old boy that looks like a 30 year old man! Liam's adventures start when he les and uses his looks to enter into a contest for dads and children. It was a chance to ride in a real rocket ship into space, which was one of Liam's greatest dreams. He ended up being one of 5 winners, but since he doesn't look like a kid, he needed to find one. I loved this book and I would really like to recommend it to anyone who likes space adventures or comedy. I laughed so hard and could not put it down. Author:
Reviewer: Rachel C This is a mystery book but also realistic fiction at times. Have you ever thought that everything around you is just falling apart? Well that is how Teddy Fitzroy feels all the time. Someone poisoned the zoo's mascot, Henry the Hippo, and made him go Belly Up! I recommend this to anyone who likes a good laugh and who is around my age. Author: Raina Telgemiere
Reviewer: Denis C. Have you ever felt like someone was making fun of you? This happens a lot in this story. Lots of people told me to read this because it was interesting and because there was a medal on the cover. Raina is the main character and she has braces and must face lots of problems and bullying. She wants to be popular but people always tease her. My favorite part was when Raina fell and broke her teeth. It was sad that she didnt have her two front teeth but also funny at times. I recommend this book because it will make you laugh! Author: Raina Telgemiere
Reviewer: Jenny M This is a Realistic fiction book because it could happen in real life. It looked interesting when I saw the cover so I picked it up. Raina is bullied by girls and always needs to stand up for herself and never give up. Especially when she got braces. There is a lot of funny parts in this story. Author: Rania Telgemeier
Reviewer: Nayeli A I read the short paragraph in the back of the book and it seemed like a good story, so I picked it up. It is about a girl and her experience having braces. It is a realistic story. You should read this book because it is funny but also tells you about how Raina feels. She is really embarrassed at times having braces and a retainer because everyone makes fun of her. But she ends up getting used to them. It teaches us that no matter how bad things are you should still try to smile. Author: Raina Telgemeier
Reviewer: Adrian C. I chose this book because it looked interesting. It is a realistic fiction story that could happen in real life and is a good book if you have ever been someone who has been bullied. Raina's classmates always make fun of her. She has a lot of courage because she is brave when she goes to school and the kids make fun of her because of her teeth and getting braces put on them. Kids always make fun of her, but she is brave. I read the graphic novel version of this story and it was really funny. Author: Rachel Renee Russell
Reviewer: Cheyanne B This realistic fiction book is about Nikki who has a crush on Brandon. There is a Sweet Heart Dance coming up and Nikki is scared to ask Brandon because she thinks he will say no. She has a "dorky diary" that she writes in all the time, every little thing. Nikki has lots of emotions and we see them in the story - sad, mad, happy, excited, confused. Her little sister also annoys her all the time. If you like love stories and realistic fiction I think you would like this book. I call this 'dorky love" because it is about a dork and her love for another kid. I hope you read it! Author: Jessica Burkhart
Reviewer: N'yah D This is a realistic fiction story by an author that I feel is just an amazing writer. I could not stop turning the pages in this story and it made me want to know what will happen next. I was so engrossed that I thought I was actually in the story! This story is about two groups of friends who travel home for Christmas to help with a Holiday Adopt-a-thon. They are trying to help rescue ex-racehorses who are in danger of being euthanized because they can no longer perform in or win races. At times this story could be hard to follow - especially since it is about two different groups of friends and what they are trying to do. But all in all, this story will appeal to anyone in my age group who has ever wanted to either own a horse or who loves horses. |
