Throw a Dart PBL

To demonstrate your learning of this geography unit, you will “throw a dart” into a region of the Eastern Hemisphere.  Your task is to investigate a specific location in this region as a geographer would, using the 5 THEMES.  Of course you will want to find its absolute and relative location, explore the surrounding areas to see what similar characteristics they share, discover what the physical and human characteristics are like there, study the human-environment interactions that have occurred there (past and present), and examine what factors have caused people and goods to move in and out of this location.

You will be asked to share your findings with other geographers in the field; therefore your information should be complied into a Google slide show with narrative text (and visual aids) to be presented at our annual “Geography Fair.”  SHORT video clips may be embedded into your presentation to help show what your “place is like.” To help your peers further experience this unique location, you are required to bring in a representation of the culture you investigated.  This may be an authentic food to share, a reproduced (by you) piece of artwork, video-taped interview with a person who has lived in or visited this region, teach an authentic dance, show/display 5 unfamiliar customs of this “place,” or generate your own original idea and submit it to your teacher for approval.
